About the Club
Surfers Paradise is known for its fabulous beaches and great lifestyle. Benowa is known for not much except it's where people live when they outgrow living in Surfers.
But if you put them together you have a dynamite region and a cricket club proud to represent it.
The club has thousands of supporters, all who drive past on a Saturday afternoon thinking "what are those idiots doing on the cricket ground when they could be at the beach".
We are indeed very silly. But we love the game and the beach is there 7 days a week.
The club moved to the Isle of Capri in the mid 70s and to our current home in the early 1980s.
In that time we have won 3 premierships in first division and 37 more in lower grades, including the famous 2002-03 2nd grade premiership led by Ian Williamson and Stew Edrich.
Our club was made great by people like David "Johnno" Johnston, who sadly died earlier this year. Johnno started this club in 1978 after realising that the players from the Surfers Paradise Australian Rules Football Club were getting lazy during summer. This of course was quite ironic, considering Aussie Rules was invented to keep cricketers fit.
But that's the type of club we are. Just a little bit funky.
As long as everyone gets a go, we're happy.
Go the Demons, for that is the way it should be.
